Sandy buys her the coat. |
Plot of the story. She (Tessie) had saved all year for a gift for her boyfriend and was hoping for a ring from him. He didn't get her one. Sandy is a reporter who meets a girl, Tessie visiting Chicago for the first time and mistakes her for an author.
The subtitle: A love scramble between a hard-boiled egg and a soft one. This is a double page spread and since it's a prominent author gets a read letter S and some red wash which overlays the gray to make brown fur tones. The illustrator in capital letters gets a line saying Pictures by.
